Using this website

The information on this website is general. It describes how CoolTech works and the kinds of jobs we take on, but it is not advice about your property: electrical and Air Conditioning decisions depend on the site, and a quotation follows an actual assessment of the job. Submitting an enquiry or asking a question does not create a contract and does not commit you to anything.

The content of this website, including its text, design and imagery, belongs to or is licensed to CoolTech. You are welcome to read, save and print it for your own use; it may not be copied for commercial use or passed off as someone else’s. The approved CoolTech logo may not be reproduced or altered.

Where this website links to a site we do not operate, that site is its owner’s responsibility, and a link is not an endorsement of everything on it.

How we handle what you send through the enquiry forms is set out in the Privacy Policy.

Enquiries, quotes and payment

Quotes are free. Each quotation describes the work it covers, and that description is the scope: work outside it is not included. Prices are in Australian dollars, and each quotation states its price and how GST is applied. Where a deposit, progress payments or a final payment apply, they are as specified in that quotation, and we will not ask you to pay an amount that is not set out in the quotation or an agreed variation.

A quotation is accepted when you tell us to go ahead. If you ask for changes after acceptance, we price the variation and agree it with you before the additional work is done.

Scheduling and site access

Agreed times are made in good faith. Reasonable delays can still arise from weather, product supply, site conditions or safety requirements, and if one affects your job we tell you as early as we practicably can. You agree to give us safe, reasonable access to the work area at the agreed times, and to tell us anything you know about the site that affects safety or access.

Existing services and concealed conditions

A quotation covers what can reasonably be assessed before the work starts. Existing wiring, pipework and structure can conceal conditions and pre-existing faults that only become visible once work is under way. If we find one, we explain what we found and agree the way forward with you before proceeding with the affected work. A pre-existing fault is not a defect in CoolTech’s workmanship.

Equipment you supply

If you ask us to install equipment you have supplied, our workmanship warranty covers our installation of it. The product itself remains covered by whatever warranty its manufacturer or seller provides to you, and its suitability for the job is assessed as far as the information available to us allows.

The 7-Year Installation Workmanship Warranty

CoolTech voluntarily warrants its eligible installation workmanship for seven years. Eligible installation workmanship means installation work performed by CoolTech and identified in your quotation, invoice or receipt. This warranty is offered in addition to your rights under the Australian Consumer Law and under New South Wales law, and it does not replace or limit them.

What it covers, and when it starts

The warranty covers defects caused by CoolTech’s eligible installation workmanship. It runs for seven years from the documented completion date of the work. It is separate from any manufacturer’s warranty: a fault in a product or component is a matter for its manufacturer’s warranty, and a defect in how we installed it is a matter for this one. Where both might apply, contact us and we will help work out which it is.

How to make a claim

Email jobs@cooltechelectrical.com.au, call 0432 655 384, or write to PO Box 266, Georges Hall NSW 2198. Tell us what you are seeing, and have reasonable proof of the work available, such as the quotation, invoice or receipt. You agree to give us reasonable access to inspect the work and, if we accept the issue as a workmanship defect, to rectify it.

What it does not cover

This voluntary warranty does not cover damage from misuse, accident or alteration of the work by someone other than CoolTech, failure of a product or component that is the subject of a manufacturer’s warranty, fair wear and tear, damage from external events such as storms, electrical surges, pests or water entry not caused by our work, or use of equipment contrary to the manufacturer’s instructions.

Nothing in these exclusions removes or limits our responsibility for defects in CoolTech’s own installation workmanship, and nothing in these terms excludes, restricts or modifies any right or guarantee that cannot lawfully be excluded.

Your rights under the Australian Consumer Law

The Australian Consumer Law requires the following statement to accompany a warranty against defects, and it applies to our goods and services exactly as written:

Our goods and services come with guarantees that cannot be excluded under the Australian Consumer Law. For major failures with the service, you are entitled: to cancel your service contract with us; and to a refund for the unused portion, or to compensation for its reduced value. You are also entitled to choose a refund or replacement for major failures with goods. If a failure with the goods or a service does not amount to a major failure, you are entitled to have the failure rectified in a reasonable time. If this is not done, you are entitled to a refund for the goods and to cancel the contract for the service and obtain a refund of any unused portion. You are also entitled to be compensated for any other reasonably foreseeable loss or damage from a failure in the goods or service.

The 7-Year Installation Workmanship Warranty is given in addition to those consumer guarantees. Residential building work in New South Wales also carries statutory warranties under the Home Building Act 1989 (NSW). Your rights under the Australian Consumer Law and under New South Wales law operate independently of this voluntary warranty, and they can continue beyond its seven-year period.

Liability and governing law

To the extent permitted by law, CoolTech is not liable for loss that does not result from a failure in our goods or services, and our liability is otherwise as the Australian Consumer Law and other applicable laws provide. Nothing in these terms limits liability in a way the law does not allow. These terms are governed by the law of New South Wales, Australia.
